Society To Donate Archival Collection To New Mexico Records Center and Archives
by Stan Hordes

t its March meeting, the NMJHS Board of Directors unanimously voted to formally donate its archival collection to the New Mexico Records Center and Archives in Santa Fe. The papers had been on loan to the State Archives by means of a series of temporary loan agreements for over a decade.
Initiated in 1986, the collection consists of private papers relating to nineteenth-century Jewish pioneers, as well as later immigrants to New Mexico, photographs, videos, and the official papers of the Society. Books dealing with histori
cal topics will be donated to the Southwest Room of the New Mexico State Library, while all other books will go to the Fray Angelico Chávez History Library of the Museum of New Mexico.
The formal presentation of the archival collection will take place at the NMJHS Archives Reception, Thursday May 2, from 11:30 to 1:30 at the New Mexico Records Center and Archives, 1205 Camino Carlos Rey in Santa Fe. We hope to see Society members and guests there. Come socialize at 11:30, then at 12:00 see and hear about our collection. You will be intrigued by something that has been hidden for years.
