Meet Our New Board Member
Our newest
board member, Lorraine Goldman, was elected at the April 11,
1999 membership meeting. Lorraine and her husband have been
members of the Society for many years. They have attended most
annual conferences and have demonstrated a genuine commitment
to the mission of the Society.
Lorraine recently resigned
as Executive Director of an important non-profit Santa Fe organization,
Santa Fe Partners in Education. ìPartners is an independent,
non-profit organization serving the publicly funded schools
of Santa Fe: the Santa Fe Public Schools, the New Mexico School
for the Deaf, and the Santa Fe Indian School.î Lorraineís responsibilities
included creating and executing a range of programs, including
a small grants program for educators, a free field trip program
for schools and youth-serving organizations, a warehouse of
community recyclables for schools and a volunteer-in-schools
program.
Prior to the nine years
Lorraine worked for Santa Fe Partners in Education, she worked
as executive director of the Guadalupe Historic Foundation.
Lorraine and her husband, Don, have long been committed to working
in the non-profit sector. In addition to being bilingual, Lorraine
is a published author, was chosen in 1992 as ìOne of Ten Who
Made A Differenceî and includes in her many distinguished accomplishments
being a member of both Mortar Board and Phi Beta Kappa honor
societies. The NMJHS is, indeed, fortunate to have Lorraine
as a new board member and we look forward to many years of productive
work together.
