NMJHS Annual Membership The annual membership meeting took place on April 11, 1999 at Temple Beth Shalom in Santa Fe. Claire Grossman, Stan Hordes, and A. David Scholder conducted the business meeting before the catered dinner was served. Claire Grossman was presented with a Nambe heart to symbolize the dedication she has given to the Society by serving as its president for three years. Walter Kahn received the Dr. Allan Hurst Award in consideration of his exceptional contributions to Jewish life in New Mexico. Another highlight of the event was a ìsneak previewî of the June 2000 exhibit planned by the Museum of New Mexico Foundation. NMJHS members Sue and Felix Warburg explained the goal of the exhibit and invited support from all members of our Society. The membership meeting concluded with remarks by the new president, A. David Scholder. He sketched out the priorities of the Society for the next year. Publishing, expanding work in oral history and reaching out to the Jewish community in Albuquerque are priorities for the next year. As the Society begins to identify candidates for oral histories, a team of interview specialists will be trained to capture these family stories on audio and video tape. Another priority of the Society for the next year will be to fund an endowment so that the Societyís future will be guaranteed for future generations. Plans for events, field trips, lectures and programs will be announced in the newsletters (see our events calendar on the back page).
