THE ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM WERE CONTAGIOUS at the Annual Meeting held at Temple Beth Shalom in Santa Fe on April 19th. There were over one hundred congenial people socializing, and then listening attentively as the program began. Be sure to read Sharon Niedermanís article about all that took place. A big thank you to everyone who helped the event run so smoothly: Chairperson Hanora Chase, Leona Hurst, Lee Leven, Christine Buchalter, Sylvia LaPan, David Scholder, Harvey Buchalter, Gunther Aron, Steve Gitomer, Sharon Niederman, Joseph Dispenza and Stan Hordes. Our dinner, catered by Cuisine Justine, was delicious ó as always! Many people signed up to work on the Societyís standing committees. Their enthusiasm extended to the Film Fiesta, to be held November 6ñ8, 1998 as indicated by the number of those volunteering their time to ensure the success of this major event.      We received our first grant for the Film Fiesta, thanks to the generosity of the Hyman and Marjorie Weinberg Foundation, which donated $1,800. We are deeply appreciative for the heartfelt support for the largest event the Society has undertaken to date! Joe Dispenzaís article in this newsletter will give you exciting news of our progress.
     Congratulations to our own Stan Hordes, the first recipient of the Dr. Allan Hurst Award for his contributions to New Mexico Jewish History. It is well deserved.
     Our 1998ñ99 Board, Officers, and I look forward to seeing you this year at our many interesting and exciting events.
